Perhaps best known as a successful realtor in Charlotte with Allen Tate, Gina has found that painting creates a sense of balance in her busy life.
As far back as Gina can remember she has always had a pencil in her hand and a vision in her mind. Gina studied water color illustration with Josette Gourley and won numerous awards in school as well as being selected to spend a summer at the North Carolina School of Art in Winston Salem, NC. She was also awarded a full art scholarship to Traphagan School of Fashion in New York City and The Ringling College of Art and Design; but life took another direction.
With her children older now, Gina says it is time to pick up her brushes. She continues with her real estate career by day and paints by night stating that her paintings are years in the making.
Her art education includes mentoring with nationally acclaimed artist Andy Braitman and workshops with Rebecca Schweiger, Connie Winters, and Mary Erickson along with workshop studies in Southern France and Tuscany. She has recently been invited to mentor with one of the country.s leading plein air painters, Kevin Macpherson. She is a member of the Charlotte Art League.
Her paintings have been shown in a One Woman show at the Artist Gallery, Charlotte, NC and recently in a juried regional show. She is also a featured artist at the Red Sky Gallery, Charlotte, NC and Carlton Gallery, Banner Elk, NC. In December, 2006 Gina had a very successful solo show at the Red Sky Gallery and will again be featured as a solo artist in December, 2007.
While the familiar forms of her landscapes, street scenes and still lifes reflect that which we see in nature, she chooses vibrant hues and colors that bring out the excitement of their natural beauty. Gina’s gift for color is inspired from her passion for gardening and her love of the outdoors. Her recent paintings reflect her travels through Europe and reveal her fascination for the countryside of France and Tuscany. She is presently working on a series of plein air paintings; "From the Mountains to the Shore"
